Macy's Parade
Here's what you need to know for this event:
***UPDATE 11/16***
Rehearsal for the parade will be Wednesday, November 21st from 1-3pm on the practice field at MRHS. Wear layers, it will be cold.
Date: November 23rd, 2012 (The day after Thanksgiving)
Attire: White shoes, white pants (consider wearing your white pants over top of other pants, it will be cold), blue long-sleeve band shirt (with lots of layers underneath, it will be cold), Santa hat, and white gloves if you have them (by the way, it will be cold).
***UPDATE 11/16***
We do not have a secure location to store extra stuff. This means that parents should watch over instrument cases and other personal belongings if they are brought. Or, you can leave cases and periferals at home and only bring what you need for the parade.
***UPDATED TIMELINE 11/16***
Timeline:
7:04am: Meet at Tukwila International Boulevard Station (15426 35th Ave S, Tukwila) to catch the Light Rail to Seattle*
8:00am: Meet at staging area (7th between Pine and Olive)
8:45am: Parade starts
10:30-11:00am: Parade ends (4th and Stewart)
At this time, we can pack up and take the next Light Rail back to Tukwilla.
*This is optional if you are meeting us there. Students are not allowed to drive themselves. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to find parking and get to the staging area.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Homecoming Game and Rehearsals
Friday we will have a rehearsal at the stadium starting at 7:30am. There will be a bus leaving the school for the rehearsal. We will load the bus at 6:45am and leave at 7am. If you are not riding the bus, you are responsible for getting yourself there. Be ready to play by 7:30am (ready to play = instrument out of it's case + on the field).
There is no storage for our equipment at the stadium, so we will have to load and unload twice, once for the rehearsal and once for the game. Everyone's cooperation in loading and unloading will help this process move quickly and efficiantly.
The game starts at 8pm. We have a bus leaving the school at 7pm which means we will load at 6:45pm. If you are not taking the bus, be at the stadium ready to play at 7:30pm.
Our attire for this game is: blue band long-sleeve shirt (wear layers underneath to stay warm), white pants, white shoes, white socks, (optional white gloves).
Make sure you have the following songs memorized: Evil Ways, Call Me Maybe, the Fight Song.

Clarification on Pep Band
Pep band is our way of supporting the school. It is both a privilage and an obligation. It is important that we represent both the school and the music program well. In order to do this, we need students to commit to playing these games so long as it is reasonable. Before making future plans, please check the band calendar to keep conflicts at a minimum. Students that have a previously planned event that prevents them from participating will have the opportunity to make up the pep-band game.
In order to be fair to the students that played for the game as well as be sensitive to busy schedules, I offer ways to make up pep band games so that students grades are not affected. Students can make up a pep band game by meeting me after school and doing office work (mostly sorting and organizing music). For students in sports, Friday during lunch is the best option.

Pep Band Game Friday
If you're riding the bus: Load the bus at 6:15. Leave at 6:30. The bus will most likely get back to the school close to 11pm.
If not: see you at the stadium ready to play by 7:30.
Blue band shirts and jeans/spirit wear.

Band Retreat Pics
The band retreat was a great success! What an awesome time we had playing games and getting to know each other better. Surely this is the start of a great year!
As people entered we played card games.
Gunnar was showing us how he can make his arm disappear.
We then divided into teams and played a few rounds of dodge-ball.
We followed up dodge-ball with "Extreme Hot Potato." This is played by passing around a mystery food item inside of a paper bag while music plays. Once the music stops, whoever is holding the bag has to open it up and eat whatever food item is inside. Sometimes good...somtimes...not so much.

First Pep Band Game
Our first pep band game is this Friday (9/7). The game starts at 8pm and we are playing the national anthem, so be in your seat ready to play no later than 7:30pm.
Transportation: There will be a bus available for us. It leaves at 6:30pm from the MRHS. We will load the bus at 6:15pm (including percussion equipment). The bus is not mandatory, but if you are using alternate transportation, there is a form that needs to be filled out. You only need one form for all of the football games. Students can pick the form up from me on Tuesday.
Attire: Wear your blue pep-band long-sleeve t-shirt and jeans. Please make sure you wear layers underneath to stay warm! If you do not have a band t-shirt yet, wear blue.
GO RAMS!
